This weekend we travelled to Boone and Rutherfordton, NC! We toured Appalachian State University, went go-carting, visited Tweetsie Railroad, and ended the weekend attending a beautiful wedding in the Rutherfordton countryside! Here's the details:
Go-Carts in Boone at 'Fun 'N Wheels': small go cart track, but fun! Sharp curves and semi-fast carts. They have different sizes for different heights. Great to do if you need to waste some time between events, or looking for stuff to do with smaller kids!
Tweetsie Railroad: Amusement park with train rides, petting zoo, carnival rides, and new ropes course and zipline!
- Train ride: A MUST if you are here! The main attraction. They have different kinds of shows/entertainment during the ride, when we went, there was a battle of cowboys and outlaws! The actors board the train with you, and jump off at different times to perform scenes!
- Petting Zoo (Picture Below): Another must! Pay 50 cents to get a little ice cream cone full of feed, and hand feed the deer, goats, sheep, llamas, donkeys, mini horses, and emu! Some of the tiny goats roamed around outside, all the animals were friendly!
- Rides: Another main attraction is the Chair Lift up the big hill to where the petting zoo and miner's mountain are. Peaceful ride where you can see the whole park! We also rode the Turnpike Cruisers, where you take a lap around the track in a little go cart! Great for small kids who want to drive with parents in the passenger seat! We also rode the Tilt-A-Whirl twice! They also have a small ferris wheel, other carnival rides, and a gem/gold mining area.
Bo's Family Entertainment in Lenoir, NC: Family Fun Center with laser tag, bowling, mini golf, and arcade! Only $18 to buy an unlimited pass to the entire center for the entire day! We played laser tag and spent time in the arcade. Great place! There's also an axe throwing center next door!
